Senior 2D Game Background Artist - Fully Remote

As a Senior 2D Background Artist at SOFTGAMES, you will be part of a small, agile team working on a new casual mobile game.

Your role is to create detailed and visually appealing 2D backgrounds for the game, based on the story brief and in harmony with the overall visual aesthetics of the project. The team will collaborate closely with you to animate your 2D backgrounds and enhance them with special effects. This position requires a keen eye for design, perspective, and color, with a strong ability to create an atmosphere of different environments.

**Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a graphics test.

Your role

• Design and create visually appealing 2D environment backgrounds.

• Ensure consistency in visual style and maintain high detail and polish.

• Collaborate with designers to align all graphical elements with the game's story and vision.

• Collaborate with the team to animate your backgrounds and enhance them with special effects.

• Optimize graphical assets for performance while retaining visual quality.

• Iterate on feedback to improve and refine background artwork.

• Demonstrate creativity and adaptability in visual styles.

Your profile

• Several years of experience as a 2D Game Artist.

• Strong portfolio showcasing 2D backgrounds for games, movies or TV.

• Proficiency in digital painting software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).

• Solid understanding of color theory, perspective, and composition.

• Excellent communication in English (verbally and written) and ability to work in a team.

• Passion for mobile casual games.

• Plus: Proficiency using 3D to block out or create environments (Blender, Maya or similar)

• Plus: Experience working with UNITY
